What is Escape From Playtime?
Escape From Playtime is a 1-4 player co-op Multiplayer horror survival game based on the world of Poppy Playtime. In the game, you and up to 3 friends play as Smiling Critters exploring various environments throughout the Playtime Co. Toy Factory as you extract building materials at the behest of a mysterious Voice who promises you sanctuary.
Why Early Access?
We are launching Escape From Playtime as an Early Access game because we see it as an opportunity to develop the game alongside our community. All feedback we receive is carefully considered, and we want the 1.0 launch to be something the community wants and loves.
Will the game come to consoles/mobile?
Currently, the game is planned to only launch for Steam; however we may explore other opportunities down the line.
When is the release date?
Escape From Playtime officially releases on OCtober 21, 2026!
Can you play by yourself?
If you’re brave enough, Escape From Playtime can be experienced by yourself, but it’s always fun to play with up to 3 friends!
Will there be more content added to the game?
Yes! As the game is Early Access, we will be working directly with the community on developing based on feedback. We will provide more information at a later date.
Is Escape From Playtime being worked on by the same development team working on the Poppy Playtime Chapter games?
Nope! Escape From Playtime’s development team is completely separate from the Poppy Playtime Chapter team, meaning that the development of this project does not interfere with our chapter series’ development.

What is Proximity Chat?
Proximity chat is a feature that allows you to better hear the players that are near you in the game. The farther away you are from your teammates, the harder it is to hear them.
Do I need a microphone to play?
While you do not need a microphone to play, Escape From Playtime is a better experience when all players are able to communicate over voice chat.
Is there an in-game chat?
Escape From Playtime does not feature an in-game chat.

Who are the Smiling Critters?
Originally introduced in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3, the Smiling Critters were a line of plush toys inspired by Playtime Co.’s cartoon by the same name. Shortly after the release of the Smiling Critters, CatNap was recalled from shelves because the (what was supposed to be) calming gas produced by the toy gave children terrifying nightmares. This same gas was used by Playtime Co. to put the orphans of Playcare to sleep every night.
When does Escape From Playtime take place in the Poppy Playtime timeline?
Escape From Playtime takes place some time after the Hour of Joy, which is the day that the toy experiments rebelled against the employees of Playtime Co.
